"The documentary 'Yo Soy Pablo': A moving tale of the fight against childhood cancer" - AIFF 2023



Seville, Spain - The documentary film "Yo Soy Pablo" is captivating audiences across the country with its story of resilience and bravery. Directed by Fran Exposito, the documentary tells the story of the young Sevillian Pablo Mije and his battle against childhood cancer after being diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 12.


With an approximate duration of 50 minutes, this audiovisual production presents a narrative of empathy and hope, highlighting how Pablo's family, friends, and community came together in his fight against the disease. The use of social media also played a crucial role in raising awareness about the importance of bone marrow donations, which served as the last hope for patients diagnosed with leukemia.


"Yo Soy Pablo" showcases the courage and determination of Pablo Mije, who becomes a symbol of resilience. Accompanied by his family, the young boy shares his personal story of fighting childhood cancer for the first time, inspiring others with his bravery and positivity.


The director Fran Exposito, an actor and audiovisual creator born in Seville, has previously received recognition for his work in productions such as "Crudo" (2022), directed by Rafael Martínez Calle and awarded the Silver Biznaga for Best Direction at the Malaga Film Festival. Now, with "Yo Soy Pablo," Fran takes a further step in his career by presenting his first feature-length documentary, exploring a sensitive subject with sensitivity and empathy.


The production of the film arises from a charitable commitment with associations related to childhood oncology diseases, aiming to support research to achieve a 100% cure for childhood cancer. Acaye Solidaria is the main nonprofit association collaborating with the film, recognized for its commitment and efforts in the fight against childhood cancer by the Josep Carreras Foundation.


The premiere of "Yo Soy Pablo," held in early 2023 in Seville, was a resounding success in terms of fundraising, raising over 1,600€ for the cause.



The film's screening tour has brought this emotional story to cities such as Seville, Malaga, Cadiz, Barcelona, and Huelva, among others. The distribution team is working hard to further expand the geographic reach of the documentary, aiming to reach an ever-growing audience. Additionally, "Yo Soy Pablo" participates in various national and international film festivals, bringing its message of hope and resilience to a global audience.


"Yo Soy Pablo" has become a powerful testament to the fight against childhood cancer, raising awareness and inspiring others to confront their own adversities with courage and determination. With each screening, the film continues to inspire and leave a lasting impact on the hearts of those who watch it.


The production team of the documentary has now signed a contract for an exclusive screening of the film at the Akida International Film Festival, taking place from September 2nd to 9th, 2023, out of competition. The program will be announced very soon.
